Hey! New site!
For those of you who are here for the first time, welcome to my new official home on the web, full of all kinds of good info about me and the occassional thought about pop culture stuff. I hope you enjoy yourselves. Don't forget to tell your friends.
For those of you who have been here before, yeah, I know. Crazy, right?
So here's the thing. Years ago I started Platypus Robot as a way to rev up my writing and casually chase the trend of fun comic blogs on the internet. For a few years it was great. I got picked up for a hot second by a bigger site (which I promptly left), got linked by Wil Wheaton (I got 10k hits in one day!), and generally tried to add some fun bits of discussion to the wider geek culture. But as all with all hobbies, eventually life got in the way and my passion for comic blogging fell by the wayside.
There was a span there in late 2011 where I was working on the feature (Love in the Time of Monsters), writing another (Til Death), writing a graphic novel, blogging, and prepping for a wedding when finally my brain just broke. I needed to cut back, focus on the important stuff, and ultimately that meant taking a break from the blog.
As life settled down and I had the brainspace to write again, I just never fell back into the groove with the blog. Not for lack of trying, mind you, I have six or seven half written articles on my desktop right now that seemed like great ideas when I started, but lost their way half way through. And I just didn't have the desire to go back in and figure it out.
My passion for comic blogger just wasn't there, I needed a change. And so, that brings us here, to the new and improved Platypus Robot, refocused and reformated for the future.
It's a great thing and I'm very excited for this whole endeavor. I'm sure I'll still post my thoughts on pop culture whatnots now and again, but unfortunately my days of making jokes about old comics seem to be over. But you never know, you can't keep a good fanboy down for too long.
In the meantime, if you feel really saucy, the old site will remain up at the old generic address as a dusty reminder of Throg, slutty venom, and all sorts of weird four-color goodness.
To the future!
